Your new Cosplayer of the Month: Sophie.
Welcome to Cosplayer of the Month, where we feature an incredible cosplayer from our community of fans and learn about who they are beneath the surface and, ahem, WORBLA. This month, we have Sophie!

What city are you based in?
How did you get into cosplay initially?
I’ve been attending conventions since I was very young, so cosplay wasn’t a new concept for me once I decided to get into it myself. I started cosplaying more seriously when I cosplayed as Annie Leonhardt from Attack on Titan since so many people told me I looked like her, and it only spiraled from there!
Do you have a cosplay piece that you are most proud of?
I’m still most proud of my Raven from Teen Titans. I made the entire thing from scratch, and I incorporated the brooch from my first ever Raven costume from Halloween as a child when making the new brooch (you can see it peeking out from behind the resin casted gem that I made).
What do you hope to achieve through cosplay?
I honestly enjoy bringing the characters I love to life to the best of my ability, as it helps me express myself creatively. If I can make others excited upon seeing my work, then all the better!
Is there a cosplayer that you look up to or inspires you?
I’ve met so many talented and inspiring cosplayers & artists through this hobby, but if I have to name one I’m definitely always in awe of the costumes Alyson Tabbitha manages to produce! Her makeup skills are also extremely mind-blowing!
If you could give any piece of advice to new cosplayers, what would it be?
Have fun above all else! If you’re not enjoying what you do, then it’s not worth losing sleep over.
What would you say is the hardest part of cosplaying?
Reminding myself not to take everything too seriously! I’m a perfectionist by nature, so I tend to beat myself up over tiny details in my cosplays that probably only I’m noticing in the first place.
